Investing in yourself
Want to get your first Pull-up? Need some help on what sort of foods you should be eating? Or maybe you just need someone to hold you a little more accountable to your actions….
There are a number of reasons why someone would choose to invest in private training as opposed to solely attending group coached sessions.
By working in an private setting with a coach you will have a program and structure specifically designed for your needs and fitness goals. Most clients that come to us usually have body composition goals in mind; they are either looking to lose weight, become leaner, gain some muscle or just maybe don’t know how to connect the dots and get to where they want to be. Before the real training can begin, our coaches will meet to discuss the current exercise routine, lifestyle factors and then create a details plan as to how to get you there. This is where it can become extremely helpful to have a private coach to help outline the action steps, and schedule that makes sense for your lifestyle.
Consistency with your schedule becomes much easier with semi-private training. Think about it… It’s much harder to skip the gym or miss a session if someone else is counting on you to be there with them, whereas if you are doing group classes it could be easy to skip when other things come up. Here at Glevum we have done our best to create a great community and sense of belonging however, it could be that you have now completed our prep-course training and are finding it hard adjusting to being in a class with other people. Having a coach hold you accountable can make a huge difference.
Our objective when designing and delivering our training is to help and guide you down the path to achieving your health and fitness goals; this could be improving health markers such as blood pressure and resting heart rate or improving your look and feel by reducing body fat.
Group taught classes are a fantastic way to improve by attending them regularly but we have shown that supplementing with private or semi-private training can help speed up this process immensely. In our semi-private training sessions where we see anywhere between 1-3 individuals we have a huge opportunity to develop skills that sometimes you might not be getting enough exposure to.
For example, high-skill movements such as the snatch and the clean & jerk are not easy to learn for even the best of us. A little extra attention and few more hours coaching in this area can make you feel more comfortable and confident movements such as this.
We know of several clients that don’t have muscle ups and have been attempting to learn them on their own, when all it might take is a few hours with a coach to go through some progressions and exercises to master the movement. If you know there are movements that could improve, we’d strongly encourage grabbing a friend or and trying semi-private training for a month or two to develop these areas.
Perhaps all you need to break through that barrier is a little personalised attention. Even if it is only one or two days month that you spend with a coach, and the rest of the time is in group classes, those hours can be dedicated to focusing on your area of trouble; whether it’s pull-ups, push-ups, or possibly single leg work to fix an imbalance or mobility issue. We have had success with a number of clients who are supplementing classes with some private tuition.
If you are like many of us, now the open is over you’ve probably already started making plans to break through barriers and start working on goals for the upcoming training year. Do you have a clear idea on how to achieve them? Whether you have a specific goal if you just need some extra accountability, we’re here to help maximise your time in the gym and help you reap the benefits.
